MANDARIN ORIENTAL (PARIS) – BAR 8: how to keep hitting the headlines

Since its recent opening (2011), the hotel Mandarin Oriental Paris has set tongues wagging, whether on its Bar 8, fine french food @ Camelia’s or Thierry Marx’s molecular restaurant le Sur-Mesure.

Here’s our review of Bar 8.

Setting

A contemporary design, mixed with an impressive work on the structure above the bar. Marble and lights, wood and Lalique Crystals… Add a few tranquil tables along a bay window running along the hotel’s garden, and you’ve got yourself a nice and brand new place to hang out in Paris…

Price range

Glass of red wine from 10€ to 15€ (average)

White wine  (Jurancon 2009) starting at 9€

Coca around 9€

Staff and Service

With an average of one year of training, no wonder you get a top-of-the-range service. Elegance, calm and courtesy are key to any Mandarin Oriental’s experience. And luxury comes with a smile!

The garden

… meaning you can also smoke outside, or simply enjoy your drink in the open air, sitting by one of the spacious tables. One side of the garden is dedicated to the restaurant Camelia, where you can get a lunch in  ‘45 minutes – (for) 45 €’ (Thierry Marx).

Or maybe just indulge in delicious home-made pastries…
