One of the few “kiddy free” hotels on Phuket Island, The Shore at Katathani, is an indulgent pampering experience that will leave you wanting to return. This is not the place to go to if you want the fast vibe of mass tourism and endless hours of credit card bashing at shops.

It breathes self-gratification and if not yours, then be prepared for it to be your partners, at your expense. Romantic sunset drinks, rain shower bathroom, the soothing sound of the ocean and an expanse of blue ocean that appears to go on forever.

Oriental in design, it has gentle colors and textures that please the eye, as much as the touch. The Shore at Katathani comprises of 48 villas and pool villas sitting on Kata Noi foreshore. Free Wi-Fi throughout gives you access to cyber infinity if you crave interaction with the outside world, whilst never leaving your fantasy cocoon. It is only 20 minutes by car from the tourist area of Patong, but if you were a “Patong individual”, I doubt whether you would be even contemplating staying at The Shore at Katathani. Being 50 minutes drive from the Phuket International Airport, the transfer is a mere inconvenience to arrive at this gem.

A little word of local advice, just be careful in relation to what villa you go for as you may be sacrificing your privacy and modesty. And a must do for any creative juices you may have is to take the fruit and vegetable carving lesson, just to impress your friends with when you return home, or so you can carve up your partner with a bit of flair when you receive the bill.
