Blue is my favorite color and in Thailand there is an abundance of it; blue skies, blue ocean and now the most amazing stylish blue and white interiors of the Point Yamu by COMO (designed by Paola Navone). A mere 25 minutes from the Phuket International Airport and you can overindulge and overdose in sheer luxury topped off with one of my favorite restaurants, Breeze, a few steps away.
Brand spanking new, Point Yamu only opened its doors in December 2013 and definitely has the potential to smooth and relax any wearied brow. Lurking outside the full-length windows of your room is a never-ending vista of the Andaman Sea and the ancient limestone formations of Phang Nga Bay made famous by James Bond’s movie “Man with a Golden Gun”. The isolated area enhances rather than hinders this holiday experience. Everything is at your doorstep from cozy romantic picnics on deserted island beaches and any above or below water activity that you can wish to partake of. Free Wifi throughout, their restaurant delivers what I call “spiritually enlightened” food and a tempting bar, if drinking in your private domain is not your thing. Don’t miss the COMO Shambhala Spa, pilates studio and top-notch treatment rooms as they’re part of the COMO resorts DNA all around the world, along with serving great raw food.
Point Yamu by COMO comprises of 79 rooms/suites and 27 villas, some with their own pools that you will never want to leave. The huge round sparkling white bathtub in the Phang Nga Pool Suite is to die for, in an uncluttered and minimalistic but oh so chic ablution experience.
The mad fluorescent orange blowfish painted on the walls of the Thai restaurant, make this hotel a stand out for its sometimes quirky in your face decoration.
